Our NIOZ fyke on Texel played an important role in his research. Not only to catch the fish used in the lab experiment, but Dye could also use the data from years of research with this fyke to validate his prediction model.

How? By linking the information of our fyke to data on temperature and, for example, food supply during the same period, Dye knew how that affected the fish. When he then tested his model on the same time period, he could see how well it worked. In this way, the prediction model can be used to determine what further rising temperatures mean and what the future holds for fish in the Wadden Sea.
