Contruction of RV Wim Wolff looks like a jigsaw puzzle
Publication date: Wednesday 08 December 2021
After a tendering procedure last winter, Thecla Bodewes Shipyards in Harlingen was chosen as the yard to build RV Wim Wolff. They have asked subcontractors Dijkstra Metaalbewerking in Harlingen, KB Alubouw in Makkum and Alubouw Fryslan in Franeker to construct the aluminium parts for different sections of the ship. In the spring these sections will be fit together at Dijkstra Metaalbewerking and then the empty shiphull will be towed to Thecla Bodewes Shipyards. There TBS will complete the construction work at its location in Harlingen. The shipyard is currently hard at work drawing up the blueprints for the remaining sections and purchasing tools and materials for the on-board installations. RV Wim Wolff will be deliverd in the spring of 2023.
Global planning:
- Until spring 2022: Construction of subsections at Dijkstra bouw in Harlingen, KB in Makkum and Alubouw in Franeker.
