NIOZ offers a range of state-of-the-art facilities and high-quality operational procedures for the analysis of various biological and non-biological parameters of coastal systems. The wide range of facilities, instruments and techniques is needed to answer scientific questions and experimental research.

Outdoor | A unique underwater laboratory in the tidal area of the Oosterschelde for research on building structures and ecological soil communities.

Monitoring platform

Monitoring platform

Outdoor | The monitoring platform extends 45 m into the Marsdiep, the westernmost tidal inlet of the Wadden Sea. The pier is equipped with sensors.

NIOZ fyke

Outdoor | Since 1959 fish monitoring has been conducted with a fyke in the Marsdiep at the head of Texel and provides long-term data of fish-stocks.
